Author's Note: This year for the DWA I decided to write about my vacation to South Dakota. When you read this piece listen how the piece comes altogether at the end.
On a hot summer day down in South Dakota in the bad lands there were a ton of signs that say watch for rattlesnakes. My little sister Hannah was freaking out. I told her to calm down and just have fun, as we traveled through the bad lands. This isn't how my vacation started.

As were driving up I got so excited because I saw the South Dakota sign and I knew we were going to sleep in a tent for a week and a half. We are staying in Sioux’s falls for the night at the KOA. Were here yelled my mom. Yahoo I screamed. Hello welcome to the KOA in south Dakota said the guy how worked at the KOA. Your campsite is 234. Thanks my mom told him. First night in the KOA was exciting , I can’t wait for tomorrow we are going to Mt. Rushmore and staying by the Custer state park. Good night I yelled to my family and fell asleep.
Rise and shine as my mom was taking down the tent. Were leaving already as I was getting up. Yah we are headed to Custer state park but were stopping at Mt. Rushmore first my mom whispered trying not to walk up the other campers. Let’s go! When we got in the car my sister said I like this song. Were here! WOW… Mt. Rushmore Is amazing. Hannah did you know that the width of George Washington’s eye is 11 ft and his nose is 20 ft. That’s amazing she said. We’ve seen enough lets go to our campsite.
Hannah you have to help set the tent up. Fine! Can we go swimming when were down putting the tent up. Sure my dad said. I’ll race you there Hannah. Ha I won I Screamed. No that’s not fair I definitely won yelled Hannah. Wait Hannah look at the pool it’s pack well, whoever jumps in first wins. Ooh that’s cold yelled Hannah. When I jumped in they made everyone get out because someone pooped in the pool. Well thanks for making me jump in and get out I whispered. Well we might as well just go to bed.
2 days after…
Hannah look at that sign it says “Welcome to the Bad Lands.” Both side I could see sandy rock mounts everywhere. Oh my goodness there’s a sign that says beware of rattlesnakes. Then one hour past and we came to a sign that said “Know leaving the Bad Lands.” This is how my vacation ended.
